More exciting God Damn news! After having just released their debut album ‘Vultures’, God Damn will not only be supporting Foo Fighters tonight in Manchester at Old Trafford, but they have also just announced a slot for Reading and Leeds Festival this August! They will be playing the Lock Up Stage at Reading on Friday 28th and Leeds on Saturday 29th. For tickets and more info click here.
The title track of their album, “‘Vultures’ is both blatant and subliminal in its attacks, two fingers up and a twisted journey,” states guitarist and vocalist Thom Edward by way of explaining the tracks psychotic and schizophrenic moods. Pounding in with the ferocity and heaviness of a sledgehammer to the cranium, it quickly pulls back into a moody, swaggering stagger that takes the listener down before lifting them up again and removing the top of their head. It’s a heavy journey. Tread carefully.
The album presents a universe of sound, from the low-end melodic boom of sneering anthem ‘Silver Spooned’ through the sub-dark psychedelic breakdown of ‘We Don’t Like You’ to the unexpected lo-fi strummed opening of the throbbing and utterly tumescent nine-minute sludge epic ‘Skeletons’. As debuts go God Damn have nailed their colours to the flagpole and torched the fucker.
