Kathryn Williams’ live session with Gideon Coe on BBC Radio 2 is now available to stream here. The session includes three tracks - ‘Underground’, ‘Monday Morning’, and ‘Heart Shaped Stone’ - all from the recently released album ‘Crown Electric’.
Produced by long-time musical foil Neill McColl and mixed by David Wrench, Kathryn Williams’ new album, Crown Electric, was largely recorded at Bryn Derwen Studios in Wales with sumptuous strings added at Ray Davies legendary Konk Studios in North London. It boasts some stunning collaborations with Ed Harcourt (‘Darkness Light’, ‘Morning Twilight’, ‘Sequins’) and James Yorkston (‘Arwen’).
One of Britain’s finest songwriters, Kathryn’s music has always challenged the distinctions between folk and pop, but with songs as strong as ‘Monday Morning’ and ‘Heart Shaped Stone’ waiting in the wings, ‘Crown Electric’ has the potential to catapult Kathryn into a much bigger league.
