Joe Pernice and Norman Blake present The New Mendicants!

Quiet release-wise since the last Pernice Brothers album in 2010, Joe Pernice announces not one, but two (and quite possibly three) new recording projects. First up is a collaboration with Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake. The New Mendicants (also featuring Mike Belisky of The Sadies on drums) release a debut EP, ‘Australia 2013’ via One Little Indian on 8th July, with a full album currently being readied for an early 2014 release.

The band play UK dates as a duo (Norman & Joe) in July as follows:
 
7th      Dublin, Whelans 
8th      Cambridge, Cambridge Portland Arms
9th      Bristol, Colston Hall 2
10th     London, The Lexington
11th     Nottington, The Glee
12th     Birmingham, The Glee
13th     Manchester, Deaf Institute
14th     Hebden Bridge, Trades Club
15th     Glasgow, Mono
 
The other big news is that - having renewed their acquaintance in 2011 - a brand new Scud Mountain Boys album, ‘Do You Love The Sun’ will be released via the label in August, more details soon.
 
It will be preceded by a re-issue of ‘The Early Year’ (also 8th July) a double cd compiling the band’s first and second albums – ‘Dance The Night Away’ and ‘Pine Box’ (originally released by Sub Pop in 1997).
 
A new Pernice Brothers album is also rumoured to be in the works!
