Björk: Biophilia Kickstarter project launched

28 Jan 2013

Björk has now officially launched a Kickstarter campaign to convert the Biophilia apps for use with Android and Windows 8 devices! This is primarily being done to support the Biophilia Educational Program, a non-profit project that has been to cities around the world, teaching children about music and science. The program is designed to be a kind of introductory music course, with no prior musical knowledge necessary.

The project is of particular interest to children from low-income families and schools with underfunded music departments. However, in order to make the Biophilia apps – an essential part of Educational Program’s open-sourced curriculum – available to as many people as possible, we have decided to try to raise some money to pay for making the Biophilia apps compatible with other systems. Also, most of the educators in charge of bringing the program to children have so far been unpaid volunteers, and we aim to change this.

For more details, and to take part in funding the project, visit the Kickstarter site here.
