The deluxe reissue of AC Acoustics much revered second album, Victory Parts is released today. The remastered album features three extra tracks – Shoka, Violent Peep and 1994′s long out of print Hand Passes Plenty – in a re-ordered track list. CD2 includes a live set, The Silver Echo & the Golden Echo – recorded live at Reading Festival in 1996.
Formed in Glasgow in 1990, AC Acoustics original sound took its lead from the wave of mid-late 80s noise bands like Jesus And Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Their first release 1992s Wrist Eye EP – featuring backing vocals from Teenage Fanclub’s Gerry Love – and a show opening for PJ Harvey brought the band to the music press’ attention and won them a session with John Peel. It also brought a record deal with Elemental who released their debut mini album Able Treasury to ecstatic reviews in 1994:
“It’s mixture of the instantly recognisable and the frankly lunatic that makes AC Acoustics such a vital prospect”.
Victory Parts is the 4th in One Little Indian’s Totem Series of limited editions and deluxe reissues. All purchases of this album made through the One Little Indian store come with a 7” record sized collectors booklet featuring interviews with the band about the making of the album.
