Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from everyone here at One Little Indian Records. It’s been a very exciting year for us at the label and we’d like to share just a few of the highlights:
This year, Björk released the documentary concert film ‘Biophilia Live’ based around her eighth studio album. The film did a limited series of premiere screenings at festivals, museums, libraries, galleries and cinemas worldwide, before its release on DVD, BluRay and vinyl. Also, this year Björk’s Biophilia education project entered the curriculum of schools in the Nordic region, thanks to support from the Nordic Council.
Icelandic sensation Ásgeir released his English language debut album, ‘In The Silence’, as well as a triple pack Deluxe Version which includes the original Icelandic version, the English version, and a bonus disc with remixes, acoustic sessions and various previously unreleased material. Ásgeir also embarked on a worldwide tour, playing his largest UK show to date and selling out O2 Shephard’s Bush Empire, as well as selling out not one, but two shows at the Sydney Opera House.
Ólöf Arnalds returned with a brand new album, ‘Palme’ - her fourth studio album to date. Additionally, she had an incredibly successful European tour where she played various festivals and headline shows. Ólöf embarks on her first ever American tour in 2015 as support for none other than Jose Gonzalez!
Icelandic trio Samaris released their highly anticipated full length album, Silkidrangar, in May winning the attention of multiple radio stations as their Record of the Week and Track of the Day. Samaris also embarked on an international headline tour, including various festivals and a London date with John Grant.
Dan Sartain followed 2012’s Ramones suffused ‘Too Tough to Live’ with an altogether more eclectic proposition in the shape of his full length album ‘Dudesblood’. Across its 10 songs Dan careers between the paranormal John Ford C&W of ‘Marfa Lights’ to UK anarcho-punk (‘Smash The Tesco’) and a truly inspired take on The Knife’s ‘Pass This On’.
This year One Little Indian added some downright incredible talent to our roster in the shape of the Atomic drum and guitar duo God Damn, the dark and psychedelicized Icelandic trio Fufanu, and raw rcoker Sarah Walk. Look out for their truly astounding releases in 2015!
A big thank you to everyone who made 2014 such an exciting and successful year. Our office is now closed until the 5th of January, and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2015 for, quite possibly, our most exciting year yet!
See you all in the new year!
