A graduate of Central St Martins MA program in Fine Art, Heidi Kilpeläinen created HK119 out of science fiction references and a fictitious barcode number. Critiquing mass consumerism and the theories of humanity’s relationship with socialism, capitalism, technology and celebrity culture, her first album was a collection of songs produced for her degree, self-recorded on a digital 8-track. Fellow Icelandic singer Björk described Kilpeläinen as the perfect blonde woman and her favourite act of 2004. She is currently preparing her third solo album.
