Compulsion

Label: One Little Indian

Compulsion were an Irish punk band formed in 1990 by Josephmary and Sid Rainey, formerly of Thee Amazing Colossal Men. They signed to Virgin but ended up suing the label and subsequently changed their name to Compulsion in 1992. That year’s OLI debut ‘Comforter’ saw them labelled by NME as part of the ‘New Wave Of New Wave’ scene and for second album ‘The Future Is Medium’ they adopted a uniform of identical black outfits and orange hairdos. Compulsion split in 1992, with Garret Lee subsequently moving into production as Jacknife Lee working with Snow Patrol and U2 amongst others.
