Label: One Little Indian

Formed in Burnley in 1982, Chumbawamba were originally an anarcho-punk group, but moved away from these roots as they moved into the 90s, however they continued to take their cue from anarchist politics. Best known for the single ‘Tubthumping’, they moved into newer, pop-influenced territories whilst still tackling subjects such as racism, facism, homophobia and working class rights. They signed to OLI in 1994 and released 2 LPs on the label – ‘Anarchy’ and 1995’s ‘Swingin’ With Raymond’. Despite many line up and label changes, Chumbawamba are still functioning, having released their 16th studio album ‘ABCDEFG’ in 2010.
