Big Hard Excellent Fish

In 1989 the dancer Michael Clark approached Josie Jones and Jake Walters of Big Hard Excellent Fish to write a piece of music for his forth coming work with the Phoenix Dance Company. Josie, a former member of Pete Wylie’s The Mighty Wah! asked Pete to work with them on this and thus Imperfect List was born. Michael’s choreography with the Phoenix Dance Company was performed at the Sadler’s Wells theatre and the track was also featured on the South Bank Show’s piece about him. It was subsequently re recorded with Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins and released on One Little Indian Records in 1990 with a remix by Andy Weatherall. In 2004 Morrissey used the track to open his show on his world tour and featured it on the successive DVD “Who Put the M in Manchester”.
