Kris
Needs and Wonder Shnieder have reformed 'Secret Knowledge' one of the
most influential and ground breaking dance acts of the 90's.
Secret Knowledge formed
in 1992 with Kris Needs and American Soul singer Wonder. The duo released
records on Andrew Weatherhall's ' Sabres of Paradise' label before signing
to Deconstruction. Club hits followed with records like 'Sugar Daddy'
and 'Love me Know', plus the album 'So Hard'. The duo also released tracks
such as Delta Lady such as 'Swamp Fever' and All You Want'.
The group split in
'96 when Wonder returned to the U.S. Kris carried on remixing the likes
of the Prodigy, Primal Scream, Boo Radleys, St Etienne, Inner City, and
wrote his autobiography 'Needs Must'. He also formed a band called Hibee-Nation
with Irvine 'trainspotting' Welsh and Sarah Jane Harrison as well as DJing
around the world with the Prodigy and primal Scream, plus residency at
manumission in Ibiza.
Wonder returned to
the UK at Christmas and the duo decided to reform, writing several newsongs.
One Little Indian, Bjorks label wanted to sign them before they heard
any of te material. the deal was signed this May and the first single
is called 'Mojo' which will blow dancxe floors across the globe. A dark
bluesy classic style secret knowledge cut called 'My Baby Done Left Me'
is also planned to be released and has een tipped as 'Sugar Daddy part
2'.
Kris is also planning
a 'super group from hell'. He tells us that "the music is totally
different from Secret Knowledge - nasty, funky, psychedlic but beautiful
in a terrible way". The group is likely to include members of Primal
Scream, Alabama 3, Mani (Stone Roses) and Arthur Baker to name a few ...............
